Proofread, Proofread, Proofread!
This means you, Linda (and yes, everyone else, too). Okay, this will be brief – I promise. I was just re-reading what I’ve posted so far, and found errors. I am sure there are more than I found in this sitting, butĀ (insert proper expletive here), I know better. I am taking this opportunity to share with you a few things.
-
- No one writes perfectly, so we proofread, we edit, we fix. It is a constant process.
- One way to proofread is to read what you’ve written out loud. Your tongue will trip over awkward parts. When you’ve tripped, take a closer look – it is either awkwardly worded, or there is a grammatical hiccup. I promise this works.
- Don’t trust grammar checking, or spell checkingĀ features in word processing applications too heavily. They can be handy in some cases, but if you are not careful – it can actually mess you up.
Have a good night.
Linda
