Word prompts are fun. Tonight I thought I would try the Daily Post’s prompt “Tremble” – I must admit that, initially, I cheated a little bit. I found an old poem that I wrote in High School after reading The Red Badge of Courage, by Stephen Crane and being exposed to All’s Quiet on the Western Front, by Erich Maria Remarque (we saw the movie). I posted it. Why not?
The word, tremble, was still floating around in my head though, so I kept playing, and I posted those. Why not? That’s what this is all about, using words to paint pictures, elicit feelings, and it all starts with a word, or two, or more. Why not share, it’s fun!
Prompts can be intimidating, though, that is true. But even the Daily Post says not to fuss about it. If the prompt does not inspire, I say ‘tuck it away for another day.’ It’ll be there. Words never truly go away.
