I recently finished reading the following:
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou
I had high expectations for this book, and I was not disappointed, but in ways I did not expect. Angelou’s book is honest in a way that is so necessary. She expresses her frustrations with her experiences and observations without apology. An excellent read, and an eye opener as a reader and as a budding writer.

Scattered Notebooks 
Linda, I’ve read this book several times now in my life and I always find something new to appreciate. It’s a great read and one worth returning to again. She wrote amazing poetry, too!

I agree. I had wanted to read it for a long time, and finally managed. I definitely will revisit it again (not uncommon for me). I have heard/read some of her poetry; do you have a collection you can recommend?
